Walk

Did you know there is such a thing as race walking? In order to participate you have to be walking the whole time – no running! The racers change the way they walk to be “more efficient” which “ends up looking weird.

The picture above is of me walking towards one of the beaches along the Scenic Byway in the Outer Banks. Kris took the picture. I changed the way I was walking to be cute which ended up looking like I was tipping over.

A lot of times Christians refer to their “walk with God.” People might ask, “How is your walk going?” and they want to know about the status and progression/regression of your relationship with God. This question is great for keeping me accountable and often moves me to action. However, sometimes I think I need to be doing one thing while God has a different plan. Though God honors my intentions to please Him, what truly needs to happen is that I need to seek God to see what He wants me to be doing.

Psalm 143:8 says, “Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go [walk], for to You I entrust my life.” (I added the walk part in there.)

I am a morning person, but even if you aren’t, each day is a fresh start to understand, chew on, and remember God’s love. My grandma calls it chewing the cud when you ruminate on something like God’s love. We need to be refreshed by God’s overwhelming love because we are trusting Him for everything. Just relax in His love! Soak it up, and soak up His direction. This will help you to trust Him even more with your life.

One of God’s greetings to Abram in Genesis 15:1 says, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

God is the initiator of our relationship with Him. We don’t have to be afraid to come to Him or of anything else. “In God I have put my trust: I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” (Psalm 56:11). God is our protector, and “He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).

Have faith in God and enjoy a relationship with Him. If this is something you’ve never considered before, you can start your relationship with God by saying, “Hi God. What do you have to say to me? What do you want me to do? Who are you? I want to get to know you.” Then just relax and listen.
