Strong Emotions

Advent devotionals are daily readings that help people remember Jesus in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Advent is a cherished part of our getting-ready-for-Christmas tradition, but with so much anticipation leading up to Christmas, it can sometimes be hard to transition back to January. What follows in these next posts are my attempt at an After Christmas Devotional – kind of the opposite of Advent. I hope that you had a very merry Christmas and that you will be blessed and encouraged by these readings!

Much love, Allison

Nehemiah 1:1-10, Psalm 86:4-7

Nehemiah received word from his brother that the walls of his home city were broken down. When he heard this, he wept and cried out to God. As you break down your Christmas decorations, consider Nehemiah’s response. It’s okay to have strong emotions (positive or negative) about Christmas being over or about anything, and it’s also okay to let God know your thoughts at any time. “Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in You…When I am in distress, I call to You, because you answer me.” What can you talk to God about today?
